Winter Tips For Your Hot Tub

What To Do If Your Hot Tub Stops Working or If You Lose Power

*A hot tub can be left without power up to 3 days without risk of freezing, IF you follow these tips:

1. Keep hot tub cover closed and locked in place.

2. Leave tub filled and running (do NOT drain or disconnect power).

3. Ensure the winter blanket is installed in equipment compartment early in the season. This will keep your equipment compartment warm, prevent freezing, and adds an extra layer of insulation.

4. If you have power but the hot tub stops working: Place an electric space heater or hair dryer in the equipment compartment and be sure the heater is not in direct contact with any plumbing or equipment.

5. CONTACT OUR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY: 802-417-3097

If our service department is coming to work on your hot tub, it is very important that you do your part to clear the pathway and site of snow and ice. Getting your hot tub fixed and running at peak performance is our top priority, we need adequate access to make that happen!

Surviving Power Outages โ€“ย DO NOT DRAIN YOUR TUB!

Hot Springs Hot Tubs are not only fully foamed,ย but also totally insulated. Should you loseย power, simply leave your hot tub covered until power resumes.

We recommend maintaining the temperature at aย minimum of 100 degrees during the winter months.ย Should aย power outage occur, temperature loss is minimal and will reheatย when power resumes.

All hot tubs dating back to 1997 will automatically resetย the temperature to 100-102 degrees. There is no need to reprogram.

Draining a hot tub during a power outage WILL resultย in freeze damage. The only way to remove all the residual waterย from the equipment and internal lines is with a shop vac orย blower (which requires electricity). Our experience is the entire hot tub body of water will maintain theย heat more effectively than small amounts of water in the plumbing (freezesย quicker!)

Only drain and refill your hot tub if the temperature is staying above 32 degrees for 24 hrs.

Also, NEVER refill your hot tub with hot water, always use cold or tempered water.
