Founded
January 1, 1957Allen Pools & Spas was founded in 1957 by Dan Allen Sr. who was working for the State of Vermont as a Registered Civil Engineer.ย He was contacted about designing and building a swimming pool for the Girl Scout Camp at Tammarck Notch in Mendon, VT.ย He agreed and built his first pool.ย He was then contacted by a few more people that had purchased pool kits and hired him to install them.ย Realizing the potential for a thriving business, he started selling and installing in-ground pools all over Rutland and Windsor counties.ย Even after building thousands of swimming pools, Dan Allen Sr. never learned to swim a stroke.

In 1958 we opened our first retail store on Woodstock Avenue in Rutland, VT.ย Dan Allen Sr. built in-ground swimming pools and tennis courts in the summer and sold peanuts and cashews to local bars in the winter.ย Two years later we moved to a temporary location in Center Rutland while construction of our new retail facility was underwayโour existing Rutland store.ย Our chemical business began, bottling our own swimming pool shock into one gallon containers.

In 1986 we started selling Hot Spring SpasโThe Worldโs #1 Selling Brand! As the demand for hot tubs grew, so did Allenโs.

We built our first warehouse in Rutland, VT in 1987.
Second Retail Store
April 1, 1993
Opened our second retail location in White River Junction, VT in 1993.
Third Retail Store
November 1, 2000
Our third retail location was open in Williston, VT in 2000.

September 1, 2003
Built our second warehouse in Rutland, VT for hot tubs only in 2003.

Raised over $30k for Breast Cancer Research and Aid with our annual raffle and donations! Every October since 2015, we have raffled off a Hot Tub and other local prizes. We also donate $100 for every Hot Tub and Sauna sold in October.
New Williston Showroom Grand Opening
February 16, 2023
After a long-awaited need for more space in our Chittenden County showroom, we moved to a new location in Williston VT. Our Grand Opening Celebration boasted a hot tub giveaway and other gifts for long-time customers. The new showroom displayed 27 Hot Spring hot tubs, three Endless Pools, and 5 Finnleo saunas.

A very successful fundraiser in October 2023, gave us a huge boost to our total donation numbers to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Since 2015, we had raised more than $80,000 to help those fighting breast cancer.
